"The painted landscapes and still-lifes warped by whimsy and symbolism within fine artist Lena Christakis’ debut solo show, “Flat Lands,” toy with depth, dimension, and perspective. A sense of wonder is pierced by a critical, reflective eye in all eight oil-on-panel pieces—many of which conjure digitally born iconography, like an origin story for the classic four-pane Microsoft Windows logo. This solo exhibition follows a range of domestic and international group shows featuring work by the New York City-based painter, as well as inclusion in December 2023’s Untitled Miami Beach, and a two-person presentation with Santa Fe’s Smoke the Moon gallery at the Future Fair New York in May 2024."
