Biography

Gala Knörr  is an artist whose interdisciplinary practice explores youth culture, folklore, and migration histories, framing celebration and leisure as acts of political resistance. Knörr received her BFA in Fine Arts from Parsons Paris and an MA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins. In 2017, she was a resident at the Guggenheim Museum in New York and was named the 2025 Frank Bidart Chair at California State University, Bakersfield. Her work has been exhibited at the Guggenheim Bilbao, La Casa Encendida in Madrid, and other international galleries, and is held in public collections including Artium Museo de Arte Contemporáneo del País Vasco, Fundación Montemadrid, Museu d’Art Modern i Contemporani de Lleida, and Fundación Mecenas Casa Natal Picasso. Knörr’s research-based work has also been published by Routledge.
